Pune to Jejuri Taxi

For the Pune to Jejuri road trip, there are two routes to choose from. Whichever route you choose, it won’t take you more than 2 hours of journey. 

The common Pune-Jejuri route is via NH 965. This route is around 49.3 km long. It will take you about 1 hour and 30 minutes of travel time. 

Another route goes via Mumbai – Pandharpur Road/​Pune – Pandharpur Road. As this route is about 59 km in distance, you can cover it in 1 hour and 40 minutes of time.

Jejuri Khandoba Temple

Jejuri is known for the Khandoba Temple, which is one of the most significant shrines of Maharashtra state. Dedicated to Lord Khandoba, this temple is located on top of a hill and can be reached by climbing around 200 steps. Outside the main entrance of the temple, you will see stone elephants while the courtyard of the temple has carved arches and aisles. There is also an ornate mandapa and a garbhagriha. 

Within the sanctum sanctorum, you can see the idol of Sri Khandoba. Within the temple, there are three weapons too- sword, a damaru and a paral, each with their historical significance.

The view of the surrounding valley from the temple is another attraction here. 

Places to visit near Jejuri

Moreshwar Temple

This temple is located only 17 km from Jejuri and deserves to be explored on your trip to Jejuri. Dedicated to Lord Mayureshwar/ Lord Ganesha, it is considered to be one among the Ashta Vinayak temples. This ancient temple is built in black stone with 4 towers and has a 50 feet tall wall surrounding it. Next to the main idol are the statues of Lord Ganesha’s consorts, Goddess Ridhi and Goddess Siddhi. There are many small shrines within the temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, Lord Vishnu, Lord Rama, Goddess Sita. 

Fort Jadhavgadh

Located 23 km from Jejuri, this fort is more than 300 years old. It was built in 1710 CE as a residence by Sri Pilaji Jadhavrao. It stands majestically on top of a hill, with a height of 2511 feet above sea level. Once at the fort, you will be mesmerised by the view of Diva Ghat. At present, it has been converted into a 5 star heritage resort by  Dr. Vithal Kamat’s Group of Hotels.

The major attraction of Jejuri town is the Khandoba Temple. So most of the events are related to the temple. 

The most popular thing to do on your Jejuri road trip is attend the Bhandara Festival (Turmeric Festival) if possible. This annual festival is conducted in May or June. Champa Shashthi (Sixth Day of Margashirsha Month) which happens in December or January is also worth attending if you are visiting during those months.

Holi, in the month of March, is also a grand event at this temple and worth experiencing. A few of the events at the temple to keep in mind when holidaying in Khandoba are Somvati Amavasya (New Moon Day) and Maghi Pournima (Full Moon Day of Magha Month).

In Jejuri, you will not find any 5 star hotels in Jejuri. So, if you especially want a luxurious stay, it is better to stay in Pune, which is around 2 hours away from this town. You can find a lot of choices for 5 star hotels in Pune such as Hyatt Pune, JW Marriott Hotel Pune and Conrad Pune.

There are a few 3 star hotels in Jejuri such as Shivanand Residency and Malhar Grand, where you can have a good stay with modern comforts and facilities like parking, in house restaurants and bar, room service, free Wi-Fi, etc.

The best time for a Pune to Jejuri road trip is from October to March. During the winter season, the temperature varies from 10°C to 25°C, making the weather pleasant. During these months, the town is perfect for a relaxed holiday. From March to May, during the summer season, temperature varies from 25°C to 40°C. Thus, it is better to avoid road trips to Jejuri in peak summer. In monsoon, the town is less crowded so if you love rain then plan road trips during this season.
