Pune to Khandala Taxi

To reach Khandala from Pune in our taxi, there are two common routes that you can choose from. 

The shortest Pune-Khandala route is around 68 km long but it takes more time to cover this distance, which is around 2 hours of time. It goes via Mumbai – Pandharpur Road/Old Mumbai – Pune Highway. 

Another route requires 1 hour and 30 minutes of driving and is around 71.4 km in distance. This route goes via Bengaluru – Mumbai Highway//Mumbai – Pune Highway/Mumbai – Pune Expressway/Mumbai – Satara Highway/Yashwantrao Chavan Expressway.

Kune Waterfalls

An ideal location for capturing the best photographs of Khandala tour, Kune Waterfall is one of the largest waterfalls of India. It is a three tiered waterfall and has a height of 660 feet. Surrounded by forest, this waterfall is sure to leave you rejuvenated. This area is carpeted by thick vegetation which adds further to the overall beauty of this thunderous waterfall. 

Lohagad Fort

Built at a height 3400 feet above sea level, this fort promises enthralling view and impressive architecture. Initially built in the 10th century and then rebuilt under various dynasties, including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj of the Maratha Empire, this fort is a UNESCO world heritage site. It is a must visit location of Khandala. 

Shooting Point

You can not miss Shooting point when in Khandala. It is the place where a scene from the famous Bollywood movie, Sholay was shot. The view of lush greenery of the ghats, from here is exceptional. You can also spot Rajmachi Fort from this point. If you are looking for some adventure, then you can try rock climbing here. 

Duke’s Nose

Just 6.5 km from Khandala, this is one of the best view points, presenting an exceptional view of the valley. From Khandala, you can also go trekking till Duke’s Nose. It is a popular site for adventure activities like Rappelling, Traversing and Zip Lining. Many tourists also do overnight camping here. 

Visapur Fort

Around 19 km from Khandala, Visapur Fort is a must visit on your Khandala road trip. This majestic fort with an entrancing scenic beauty around is also associated with Pandavas. The well within the fort premises is said to have been built by them. There is also a Hanuman temple, along with various other temples. Located atop a hill, it is a popular site for trekking. 

Along with above mentioned tourist attractions, you can visit various other forts, caves and temples in and around Khandala. If time allows, visit the Shingroba Temple, Sunil’s Celebrity Wax Museum, Reversing Station, Manoranjan Fort, Shrivardhan Fort, Bhaja and Karla Caves, Rajmachi Fort, Bedse caves, Korigad Fort and Tikona Fort.

In Khandala, you will have a mix of adventurous activities, relaxed camping as well as a lot of shopping opportunities. 

For adventure seekers, there is hiking and trekking. In and around Khandala, you can trek at the scenic trails such as Tungarli Lake trek, Lohagad Fort trek, Rajmachi trek and Visapur Fort trek. Although you can always go for the Pune to Khandala road trip, the best time for it is during the winter and early summer. From October to May, the weather stays pleasant and cooler.
